If you are starting out a new business…you may feel as though you cannot take a vacation, as it may be detrimental to your success. However, it seems planning and taking a vacation may be exactly what you need to do. People give a great deal of thought to planning their holidays, and this is something you can reflect when mapping out your ideas for a new business. Not only will comparing the planning of a holiday to the planning of your new business help you to get into the swing of things, the vacation itself will clear your mind and get you ready to defeat any problems which may be thrown at you. We do a lot of thinking on holiday; you may even come up with some new fantastic ideas! Here’s how to take inspiration from planning a holiday in order to help you plan a new business venture.
Plan far in advance. The best vacations are decided on way in advance. Even if you don’t have all the details in place, you will have an idea of the big picture; where and when you are going and what you want to do whilst you are there. The most successful marketing campaigns and business ideas are mapped out in advance too, even if you don’t have all the information.. create the big picture and the ideas will flow from there.
Even beginners can be successful. Do you remember the first vacation you ever planned? You didn’t let the fact that you were a “beginner” stop you from booking a trip; in fact it probably made it more exciting. So why hold back? When starting a new venture we often feel scared of the unknown, and worry that we don’t have it in us to be successful. That’s why it’s a good idea to compare your planning to the planning of your holiday; capture the feeling of excitement booking a holiday entails, find a starting point and go from there.
Get things in the right order. You wouldn’t book a hotel or airfare before you knew where you were going, right? Before you start planning out your business venture, figure out who your customer base are, and what they want from you. Market research is always the best place to start. Determine what you will do to acquire your customers, what you will do to retain them and how you will extend your relationship with them. When you do this, you’ll get a great idea of what your customers want, and therefore will inevitably be heading down the right route.
It’s up to you whether you want to begin your business planning whilst sat around a tranquil pool on holiday, or wait until you arrive home. Either way, what a great excuse to go on holiday!
